Blinky followed Pac Man wherever he went, Inky was Blinky&#8217;s follower, Pinky tried to think ahead of where Pac Man would be and Clyde wasn&#8217;t very bright. I always thought it might be pretty entertaining if someone created a video game from the ghost&#8217;s perspective. <br>But I digress, in this tutorial, you will be introduced to the Shape Builder &#8211; a newish tool that makes building complex shapes from simpler ones very straightforward. Think of it as an interactive version of the Pathfinder&#8217;s Unite and Minus Front features.  We&#8217;ll be using to Shape Builder to create the ghosts as well as Pac Man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>1.<strong>Turn on the Grid <\/strong>(VIEW menu > SHOW GRID) and <strong>Snap to Grid<\/strong> (VIEW menu > SNAP TO GRID) Type D on the keyboard to change to your <strong>default colors<\/strong> of white for the fill and black for the stroke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Select the<strong> Rectangle Tool<\/strong> and click on the screen and type in the dimensions <strong>54pt<\/strong> for the width and <strong>36 pt <\/strong>for the height. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"369\" height=\"208\" src=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB01.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2445\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB01.jpg 369w, http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB01-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 369px) 100vw, 369px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Zoom in to below the shapes and <strong>draw a triangle<\/strong> with the pen tool, the triangle should be <strong>two small grid squares wide by one small grid squares high<\/strong> &#8211; make sure to close the path by clicking back on the first point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"465\" height=\"208\" src=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB03.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2447\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB03.jpg 465w, http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB03-300x134.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>5.<strong> Select the triangle<\/strong> with Black Arrow and hold down the Alt\/Opt key and drag a copy to the right, do it a second time for a <g class=\"gr_ gr_7 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar only-ins replaceWithoutSep\" id=\"7\" data-gr-id=\"7\">total<\/g> of <strong>3 triangles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"472\" height=\"228\" src=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB04.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2448\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB04.jpg 472w, http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB04-300x145.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 472px) 100vw, 472px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>6. Select all of the shapes (circle, rectangle and three triangles) then select the <strong>Shape Builder tool\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; if\u00a0you can&#8217;t find it the keyboard shortcut is SHIFT + M.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB06.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2450\" width=\"120\" height=\"106\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB06.jpg 600w, http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB06-300x266.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 120px) 100vw, 120px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Drag the Shape Builder tool <strong>through the top of the circle, the bottom of the circle and the shapes on the right and left above the triangles<\/strong> (don&#8217;t touch the triangles.) The Shape Builder will highlight the areas it will &#8220;add&#8221; together when you release the mouse button they will be joined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"403\" height=\"481\" src=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB07.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2451\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB07.jpg 403w, http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB07-251x300.jpg 251w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Select both circles and open the <strong>Align Panel<\/strong> (WINDOW menu > ALIGN) and select the <strong>Horizontal Align Right<\/strong> as well as <strong>Vertical Align Center.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"411\" height=\"237\" src=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB13.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2457\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB13.jpg 411w, http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB13-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 411px) 100vw, 411px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>12. Select the eye and eyeball with the Black Arrow and <strong>move it to the inside<\/strong> of the ghost shape &#8211; you can use the arrow keys to move along the document&#8217;s grid. Change the stroke of the Eye to <strong>none<\/strong> and <g class=\"gr_ gr_4 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace\" id=\"4\" data-gr-id=\"4\">chnage<\/g> the fill of the eyeball to <strong>Black<\/strong> and the stroke to<strong> none.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"271\" height=\"308\" src=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB14.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2458\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB14.jpg 271w, http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB14-264x300.jpg 264w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 271px) 100vw, 271px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>13. Go to the VIEW menu and uncheck SNAP TO GRID. Select the <g class=\"gr_ gr_4 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace\" id=\"4\" data-gr-id=\"4\">left hand<\/g> eye and eyeball and type the <strong>left arrow key once,<\/strong> do the same for the <g class=\"gr_ gr_5 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling multiReplace\" id=\"5\" data-gr-id=\"5\">right hand<\/g> eye and eyeball but type the <strong>right arrow key once<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"271\" height=\"293\" src=\"http:\/\/nickcassway.com\/designblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/SB16.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2460\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>15.
